Tribute

This blog pays tribute to all of those who helped to make this VPS possible.

My interest in hosting started quite a number of years ago when I joined a post for host discussion forum.  I enjoyed posting for hosting, and in addition to free quality hosting space I also found myself learning loads about all aspects of hosting, its technology and availability from specialists in the field.

My first discussion Forum was frihost.com, which sadly came to an end in March of 2018.  Then followed a second post for host discussion Forum where I was very active and ended up being an Admin.   Gigarocket.net is still alive to date but only just.  The Forum is still up and running, but I haven’t seen anyone posting in a very long time.

My interest in VPSs started at end of 2014 when the owner of gigarocket.net gifted my first VPS.  The objective had been to get me to set up free VPSs for post for VPS enthusiasts, so I had to learn the basics of how to create a VPS very quickly.  The free VPSs at Gigarocket came to an end in 2018 a little after freevps.us stopped providing its free VPSs.  I had a great interest in VPSs, so immediately joined post4vps.com, the last surviving post4vps forum.   Sadly post4vps.com came to an end during 2021.

The life of a VPS in my experience is usually very short in duration.  Reason being that  IPv4s are difficult to get hold off and specialist staff to maintain the VPSs are very scarce.  There were many VPS Hosts who closed their doors around the time of the post4vps forums.  When the era of free VPSs with huge specs came to an end, I fortunately had a fall back in a very cheap VPS from HostUS which I subscribed to in 2016.  This VPS is still up and running to this day.  Kudos to HostUS for providing high quality cheap hosting for many years.

For my current VPS a great appreciation is due to InstaFree, a provider of quality free hosting including VPS, Reseller and Shared Hosting with cPanel.  It was love at first sight when I landed at the discussion forum.  Discussions were up to date and there was a live presence of staff in the Forum that made me feel very welcome.  I applied for a free VPS with an IPv6 as a new challenge for me.  More about this in my Blog later.
